The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is a national, professional society started with a view to enlarge its activities to advance the cause of technical education.

The major objective of the ISTE is to assist and contribute in the production and development of top quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the industries and other organizations.

Being the only national organization of educators in the field of engineering and technology, ISTE is being represented the various technical committees and boards formed by the central government. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, AICTE/DOE/State Governments have also been involving the ISTE in many of their important programmes and activities relating to technical education.

Faculty of Engineering, Avinashilingam University is a member of ISTE     (IM 989). The membership with the Indian Society of Technical Education brings about an effective linkage between technical institutions, industry and society. It strives to develop effective teachers by helping to improve instructional methods and research. The staff chapter TN – 159 is very active with around 27 life members and as many  annual members. The student chapter is being developed with around 300 students as members.

Computer Society of India

The Computer Society of India is a Professional body where computer professionals meet to exchange views and information, to learn and share ideas. It is the oldest and largest organizations of IT professionals in India. The Society promotes research activities in the area of Computer Science and IT fields.
In the academic year 2004-05, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering has established the student chapter of Computer Society of India. Such an endeavor helps students gain more exposure as latest challenges and gain knowledge by paper presentations and attending conferences.
Association of food Scientists and Technologists (India)
Objectives

  • To strive for the advancement of Food Science and Technology.
  • To promote the profession of Food Scientists and Technologists.
  • To provide forum for discussion and disseminate the current developments in the field of Food Science, Technology and Engineering.

Membership

  • Open to science graduates/diploma holders and to those engaged in the profession.
  • Each member is entitled to receive one of the journals:
    a. Journal of Food Science and Technology.
    b. Indian Food Industry.
