ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
Dr.T.S.Avinashilingam, a
great educationist, a freedom fighter, an associate of Mahatma
Gandhi, an ardent follower of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda’s teachings, the first education minister of
Independent Madras Province founded this group of Institutions
under the Avinashilingam Education Trust. First started in
1957 as a Avinashilingam Home Science College for Girls, later
became an autonomous college and became a Deemed University
under the name Avinashilingam Institute For Home Science And
Higher Education For Women in 1988.It now has the Faculty of
Home Science, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Humanities,
Faculty of Management, Faculty of Community Education and
Entrepreneur Development, Faculty of Education and Faculty of
Engineering.
This University
offers education at the Under Graduate, Post Graduate levels
and provides opportunities for doing research leading to
M.Phil. and Ph.D Degrees. Specialized education is given along
with Indian culture and social moral and spiritual values.

ABOUT THE FACULTY
The Faculty of Engineering was
started in 1996 in a natural and beautiful campus of 100
acres. AICTE’s approval has been obtained for all the courses
offered. A good attractive infrastructure by way of academic
buildings, classrooms, library, laboratories, workshops,
hostel and staff quarters has been provided. Every year new
additions are made to this infrastructure.
